Curriculum Vitae MOGENS DAM,
born April
27, 1935 is private practising
specialist in epileptology. He defended his
thesis on the effect of Phenytoin on the cerebellum of patients with
epilepsy (Acta neurol scand 1972: suppl. 48: pp.65). He has been active
in neurological research, especially in pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics
of antiepileptic drugs, the development and clinical testing of new
antiepileptic drugs, and surgical treatment of epilepsy, and has published
more than 100 scientific papers in these fields. He is the author
of many Danish books on epilepsy and has written several chapters on
specific topics of epilepsy in international literature. In 1982 he
published together with Dr. Erik Kiørboe the book "Epilepsy
Diagnosis and Treatment" and in 1985 together with Dr. Lennart
Gram the book "Epilepsy Prejudice and Fact", which
has been translated from Danish into English, German, Finnish, Italian
and Spanish. In 1987 he published the book: "Epilepsy: Progress
in Treatment" together with Svein I. Johannessen, Bengt Nilsson
and Matti Sillanpää and in 1990 together with Matti Sillanpää,
Svein I. Johannessen, and Gösta Blennow the book: "Paediatric
Epilepsy", and in 1991 together with Dr. Lennart Gram the book:
"Comprehensive Epileptology". He is also the editor of the
book: "A Practical Approach to Epilepsy" from 1991. Together
with Dr. Lennart Gram he published in 1993 the book "Tæt
på Epilepsi", which has been translated into English under
the title "Epilepsy Explained" and into Chinese, published
in 1995. He was Professor
in Epileptology at the Department of Neurology, Aarhus University Hospital,
Aarhus, Denmark. He has received
the Danish Epilepsy Association's Saint Valentine prize, and The Danish
Neurological Society's Borberg prize. Mogens Dam has
been elected Honorary Member of the Uruguayan Epilepsy Society, Honorary
Corresponding Member of the American Academy of Neurology, Ambassador
of Epilepsy of the International Bureau for Epilepsy, and Corresponding
Member of the Epilepsy Society of Germany. |
